Train Your Dog To Aim For Perfection

There are probably endless ways of actually raising and training your dog to be as good as he or she can be.

We all want our dog to be the best it can be but does perfection actually exist?
Does perfection exist in people for instance? Do you know anyone who is perfect?

I think the answer to that particular question is a resounding “NO”

What we have to satisfy ourselves with is that there are some really quite amazing people out there and some truly wonderful dogs as well.

So how do we get our dogs to be as good as they can be?

Well, this is some great advice for you to try out.
Before you think that getting your dog to do tricks, the sort of tricks that some people think are a sign of a dog well trained, take a pause and ask yourself:

Is this what I want My dog to do?

You really do not get it if all you want your dog to become is a performer and do these tricks to an audience. And it certainly isn’t necessarily a sign of great intelligence…it’s just a trick remember.

The animal instinct of the dog is still there. He or she may well be able to do a trick or two, but could still be poor on the lead, not very good at recall or aggressive. That’s not what you want to show, is it?

The really important stuff is often overlooked in favor of the easier trick-style acts that some think is a sign of a well-trained hound.

Often, this is ignored until it’s too late. Something bad happens to either a person, someone else’s dog or our dog.

And it can be avoided.

The reason for this is very simple:

Dog trainers usually all follow the same tried and tired old systems.
You heard that right!
Trainers can sometimes just follow the same old ways as they have always done and copy what has worked, so to speak, before. A bit like sheep just following each other and not really knowing why.

When you actually start to think about it, it makes you ask the question just how important are the trick commands?

Nobody really cares about that sort of stuff as it has extremely limited use when you are training a dog.
However, I guarantee that is the sort of things that most dog training or puppy school trainers will deliver to you if you go to a class.

Many, many dogs get destroyed as a result of them being too aggressive, barking, growling and being a challenge for their owner or society in general.

An aggressive dog is a huge danger. A big Red flag. They are dangerous to children, their owners, strangers, poor old Postie….it’s a very bad thing.

Having a dog that behaves like this is one of the worst things you can imagine.

They are not only dangerous to others and themselves, they are a huge risk if they run off and get into the path of vehicles and road traffic.

Many offline dog training classes completely avoid dealing with the aggressive or runaway dogs as they struggle to understand themselves.
Many people have an idea in their minds of what a “perfect” dog would be like and generally, this falls into 5 different important behavioral traits.

1.To be calm and relaxed around other dogs and animals in general.
2. Friendly to everyone they meet especially children.
3. Always obedient and easy-going around the family home.
4. Powers of recall are excellent: They always come back!
5. A real joy to walk on the lead…they never pull!

Now, I am thinking as I am sure you are thinking “That’s a Big ask!

Well, it is a huge ask..but, if we could do it…how could we do it?
